Bronsgroen raises €1 million — 736 people from Limburg invest in local energy

We have reached a milestone we are proud of: more than €1,000,000 in cooperative capital has been raised by 736 citizens of Limburg who believe in local, sustainable energy.

That is not an abstract figure. It is 736 people — neighbours, parents, pensioners, entrepreneurs — who each decided, with at least €125: I am investing in the energy future of my region.

From wind turbines to solar panels: what your money does

Your investment goes directly to current and planned projects: the Genk-Zuid wind turbines (our first wind project), the Wellen solar park (up and running at full output) and the Sint-Truiden solar panels (in development).

Together, our 16 active projects produce more than 5,000 MWh of green electricity per year — enough for well over 1,400 households.

What this means for Limburg

Energy cooperatives like Bronsgroen prove that the energy transition does not have to come from the top down. It can grow from the bottom up — from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, from town to town.

Every member contributes to a Limburg that is less dependent on fossil energy, foreign pipelines and volatile energy prices. That is the real value behind this milestone.
