Old Sports Hall De Weyer

44 cooperative solar panels on the old sports hall De Weyer in Kortessem, installed in spring 2025. The installation produces approximately 22,500 kWh annually — the equivalent of 6.5 Flemish households — and saves around 5.25 tons of CO₂ per year.

The Old Sports Hall hosts various sports activities for all ages, from team sports such as futsal and volleyball to individual sports like badminton and table tennis. Yoga, aerobics and dance lessons are regularly offered.

The generated electricity is consumed locally and any surplus is distributed to other municipal buildings through the energy sharing principle. Community members can invest by purchasing shares, becoming co-owners and benefiting from the energy production.
